Grassroots Aid for Ukraine

As we have watched the horrific invasion of Ukraine unfold, we, like most Americans, have asked ourselves what we can do to help. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian women, children, and teenagers are fleeing the brutal Russian onslaught in the east and seeking refuge in western Ukrainian cities and across the border in Poland.

It so happens that my daughter’s sister-in-law is married to a Ukrainian immigrant whose extended family still resides in Chervonohrad, in far western Ukraine, 30 miles from the Polish border. She and her husband have now started a grass roots effort providing assistance to Ukrainians and are in daily contact with family members in Chervonohrad. Their family members have reported that they are desperately in need of the following medical supplies:

  • hydrogen peroxide
  • iodine
  • instruments for wound surgery
  • microsurgical toolkit
  • neurosurgical toolkit
  • sterile surgical gloves
  • surgical front lights and batteries
  • surgical hemostasis (spongostan absorbable hemostatic sponge)
  • tourniquets

They are collecting the supplies at their home in NJ before shipping them on to Ukraine via Poland. If you have the ability to send any of these items they would be extremely grateful and it would be directly helping the people of Ukraine. Please contact Nicole directly, her information is below.

Monetary donations are also being accepted here to fund supply purchases and transportation costs to big cities in Ukraine and Poland as well as Chervonohrad. Progress is captured on their instagram @friendsofchervonohrad and their website.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
