Dr. Josh Mezrich, Professor of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin and surgical director of the living donor kidney program, had a vision (pun intended): to create a sterile surgical task light that could give surgeons high-definition illumination—without being strapped to their heads.
One of the most effective ergonomic mitigations is to incorporate microbreaks every 20-40 minutes during long procedures.
Among the critical technologies in the OR, lighting plays an indispensable role, ensuring that surgeons have a clear, accurate view of the surgical field. The evolution of OR lighting reflects broader advances in medical science, technology, and safety.
